Project Overview
Energy Infrastructure Improvements | Anderson County Schools
The Anderson County Commission approved a 15-year contract with Energy Systems Group (ESG), a leading energy service provider, to design and implement a $9.7 million energy efficiency and building modernization project throughout the Anderson County School District.
The seventeen county schools received energy and learning environment improvements including upgrades to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, electrical systems, new windows, energy efficient lights, water conservation measures, advanced energy management controls and new suspended ceiling systems.
In addition to providing the School System with over $620,000 in annual energy savings, a significant reduction has been made to maintenance expenses and equipment replacement costs. The resulting savings allowed the district to perform these upgrades out of existing budgets, requiring no new taxpayer dollars. The combined savings over the project term is $11.7 million.

Educational, Economic & Environmental Benefits
Energy Infrastructure Improvements | Anderson County Schools
Economic & Environmental Benefits
By implementing these key energy conservation measures, Anderson County Schools will save approximately $11.7 million in total energy costs over the 15 year project term (based on a 3% utility inflation rate). Additional savings impacts will result from reduced maintenance expenses and equipment replacement costs. On an annual basis, by reducing 5,650,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, Anderson County Schools will reduce its carbon footprint by over 4,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to any one of the following annually.
Generating enough electricity to power 481 homes
Removing emissions from
900 passenger vehicles
Planting 1616 acres of forest
